Dear editor,
“The evening began with a presentation of a plaque to Wicoff … for its support of Tobacco 21 and its efforts to curb teen smoking.”
That is the last line in a multi-column report on a discussion to rescind Iola’s statute on Tobacco 21.
Only in Disneyland could this situation really occur — not a real commission meeting. Four of our commissioners got it right and our mayor should have recused himself, letting the tie stand for one more session.
Respectfully,
Larry Walden,
Iola, Kan.
Editor’s note: As mayor, Joel Wicoff accepted the recognition on behalf of the Iola City Council.
